Well jazz had many different effects on American life. A few being that jazz reintrodcued improv into modern day music. With this songs were more than less than emotional pieces being read of a pice of paper, and also with this different genres were introduced because of jazz. With the freedom of playing lively music it brought about a new attitude to modern music of the time and later on would inclfuence bluess and then early rock n' roll music as well. Plus jazz groups were one of the first to focus on smaller groups like the early formation of a singer, bassist or guitaris, amd myb a brass isntrument. Instead of the more widely used big band formation such as an orchestra.

Jazz didn't come to America, jazz was created in America!

The short version is that it developed in the South out of a combination of gospel singing and African rhythms, with influences from ragtime, musical theatre, and many other sources. A full discussion would require many pages.
