How did john deeres cast steel plow help prairie farmers?
It greatly improved farm efficiency because his plow would scour (self-polish) in the thick prairie soils. Other cast iron or wood plows (yes, they actually made wood plows!) would become covered with sticky prairie soil quickly, requiring scraping off every few hundred feet. With John Deere's plow, the prairie land's became tamable to the farmer.
They could now "tame the land". It was the first invention they got that allowed them to truly use the land as they wanted to.

Most farmers used wooden or iron plows before the invention of the cast-steel plow.
The steel plow breaks up tough soil without the soil getting stuck to it. John Deere invented the steel plow because farmers in the Midwest could not use the cast-iron plow because they kept breaking. The Midwest soil was unlike the Northeast soil, and the cast-iron plow was made for the Northeast farmers to use.
Cast steel is cast, forged steel is forged.
Cast steel is rusty. Normal steel can turn rusty :) xxx
cast steel is 2707
Forged steel is metallurgically worked, ususlly hot, to a smaller size than the cast/ingot size. Cast steel is the product of pouring molten steel into a mold, usually to the final usuable size.
cast steel is hard steel

yes cast iron is stronger than steel.
The main difference between cast iron and mild steel is the carbon content. Mild steel has a lower carbon content than cast iron. This makes cast iron brittle, while mild steel is much harder.

cast iron finds its application good if it has to bear compressive loads while steel is good for tensile loading. For underground application cast iron should be prefered over steel
1) Cast iron is iron in its pure form whereas steel is an alloy. 2) CI is strong in compression and weak in tension. Reverse is true for steel. 3) Workability is better in the case of steel than CI because of elongation properties. 4) CI is brittle whereas steel is ductile. Dandong Foundry has issued an artile for this issue, please refer to the following link "Cast Iron vs Cast Steel".

Steel is different from cast iron because cast iron is when some of the molten iron is left to solidify in moulds. And then most of the iron is kept molten to be turned into steel. But steel is made by removing move of the impurities from the iron and then mixing other elements to change the properties.
A cast iron tub is about 325lbs. steel is about 75lbs. Tap on tub if it sounds solid it is cast iron.
Cast iron is more brittle then mild steel

M.S is harder than CAST IRON > Mild steel and cast iron are compatible in compression, but cast iron has poor tensile performance.
The primary building material in steam locomotives was steel and cast iron. In freight cars the basic frame was made of steel and cast iron, siding was mostly wood with some steel fittings. Passenger cars were made primarily of steel with fabrics used in the seats and such. Most passenger cars made liberal use of wood for interior walls and cabinets. The trucks were made of a combination of cast iron and steel. Side frames… Read More
Stainless means that it will not rust under normal conditions, cast means that it is poured into a mold.
For which application?
Any sane person has to ask....WHAT?!?! He invented the first sucessful polished steel plow in 1837 but he NEVER invented the first cast steel pillow.

Steel is iron mixed with carbon, the amount of carbon changes the specifications of the steel (strength, elasticity,...)
It's not. PIG iron from the blast furnace is treated further to produce steel. Cast iron is a product made from only iron, like a cast iron frying pan. When they make a cast iron frying pan, it's ready to be sold and used. Pig iron is sent to steel mills and converted to steel.
