Lucy became one of the great comedienines in the world. Her 57 year professional career on stage, radio, film and television. Her years in show business earned her critical aclaim and 13 Emmy Awards. Her trademark red hair wasn't around in her early years as a Chesterfield and Zeigfeld Girl and neither were comic parts. She was a shrewd business woman and still and probably always will be the leading cover on TV Guide (39 times.)
Lucille posed for a painting the painter added two greyhounds then sold it overnight Lucille was all over the place in NY. At the last minute an agent approaches Lucille. They needed 12 poster girls one dropped out and they needed one more which was Lucille.
Lucille Ball is the legendary lady of comedy. She was the first woman to run a major production company (she took over Desilu Studios after her divorce). She was and is an inspiration to many people when it comes to following one's dreams. She always wanted to be an actress, so when she was a teen, she went to an acting school. She failed out and was told that she was helpless. But she didn't give up. She kept fighting for her dream and in the end, she made it to the top. She made people's lives a little easier. Did you ever watch "I Love Lucy"? Imagine coming home from a hard, stressful day and unwinding with one of the first (if not the first) sit-coms. She made people laugh. She used to entertain the troops with her ex-husband Desi Arnaz. Not many people know that, but she did. Desi was supposed to fight in WW2 (or Vietnam/not too sure which war) but he couldn't because of an injury, so she went with him to entertain the soldiers who were fighting in the war. But mainly, in my opinion, she is so imortant because she never gave up hope, she always fought on.
While working as a model in New York City, Lucille Ball posed for a painting in an elegant dress. The painter later added in two greyhounds for a touch of class. He then sold the picture to Chesterfield Cigarettes, and overnight, Lucille's picture was all over New York. At the last minute, an agent for Eddie Cantor's "Roman Scandals", a Hollywood movie to be filmed, approached Lucille. She said they for the movie, they were using 12 well-known poster girls, and one girl had dropped out. So, Lucille was cast, and ever since, she remained in Hollywood.
She was important because, many people, (not everyone, however) have found her to be very funny, classy, etc. She made many tv programs and movies, and starred with many famous celebrities, such as Bob Hope. Many people of the 50s era loved her show, I Love Lucy, finding it to be a good example of what wholesome television is. Even though she died in 1989, many people still talk about her today, some in good ways, some in bad. There is a site called I Loathe Lucy, which shows stories of what famous people may have said about her; but this is more of a spoof site. That is the stories are not necessarily true, and not necessarily false. It is a site for people who hate Lucille Ball, so I wouldn't believe everything that people write on there. It seems anyone who is or ever has been in the public spotlight always have people who say good things about them and people who say bad things; whether they are true or not.
