Your question doesn't really make much sense.. but if you mean't "Kathy wanted to arrange some cards in pairs but was one card short. She tried to arrange by fives and was still one card short. She finally arranged the cards by sevens. What is the least number of cards you can have?" This is the answer. List the multiples of 7. 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49... The answer has to be odd because she tried to arrange in PAIRS but was ONE short. (It is always 1 higher then a multiple of two so that makes it odd). Knock off all even numbers. Remaining list of multiples of 7. 7, 21, 35, 49... The answer has to end with 4 or 9 because she tried to arrange the cards in fives but was one short. eg. 4, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29, 34, 39...(it is always 1 lower then a multiple of five). Knock of numbers that don't end with 4 or 9. Remaining list of multiples of 7. 49. The answer is 49. It is the least number of cards she could possibly have.
