Some people thought that in the medieval times people thought the way to stop the bubonic plague from spreading was to light rose petal candles in your room because the thought what ever was spreading the plague hates the smell of candles

Of course that is not true that is just what people thought in the medieval times the bubonic plague was spread by RATS

The people of Europe had absolutely no idea of how the Plague was spreading, so their attempts to stop the spread were mainly futile. The Plague was blamed on Jews, cats and dogs, resulting in the deaths of many in these three categories. Many wore masks or used magical incantations.
