Those who were jailed in the concentration camps were mostly of Jewish decent, along with gypsys, and anyone who was unusual, or unhealthy were often targets as well.
The reasoning is not at all simple but the concept of the Nazi party and Germany wishing to 'rule the world' was essentially the reasoning for the steps that may have inspired such astrocities.
