Pocahontas was a very popular figure in her society, respected by both whites and native people. When she died in March 1617, she was buried in England, her adopted home. Undoubtedly, not everyone knew she had died, since there was no Mass Communication back then (no TV or radio or newspapers to tell her story), but certainly word of mouth would have let people know she had passed away. Unfortunately, after her death, the peace that had been negotiated between the colonists and the native population began to unravel.
