Camels were used in the desert areas. On the Sea of Galilee, fishing boats were also dual-purpose craft, capable of taking up to twelve passengers across the lake.

Most often people walked. People who could afford it used animals such as donkeys for transport. Camels were also used. In the case of crossing bodies of water small boats were frequetly used as Jesus Himself did on a number of occasions in crossing the Sea of Galilee.
