influenced some people to the point where they thought they can use religion to start wars, wars always had wealth as objective, religion is just the pretext, in medieval some thought that even breathing was sinful, others left all they have to go fight a war and very possibly die in the "name" of God, this should give and idea how great was the influence

For many people, as soon as they become Christian, they feel obligated to being completely pure, meaning not cursing, not using your body for un-holy things, and going to church more often. It depends with the person and how strongly they feel about their religion.
