∙ 11y agoAfter the first war Rome took over the Carthaginian territory of Western Sicily and seized Sardinia and Corsica. Carthage had to pay a 10-year war indemnity and had to return her prisoners of war without receiving payments for it, while she had to pay for the return of her prisoners of war.
After the second war Rome took over the Carthaginian territories in southern Spain, imposed a 50-year was indemnity, imposed the demilitarisation of the city and forbade the raising of an army without Rome's permission. Her disputes with other peoples had to be arbitrated by Rome. Carthage was only allowed 10 ships.
In the third war Rome destroyed Carthage and annexed her remaining territory. 50,000 Carthaginians were sold as slaves.
