George Harrison was Paul McCartney's friend so Paul introduced John to George
The announcement by Paul was the last of many events which led up to the breaking of the Beatles. All three of the other Beatles had briefly left or announced that they wished to leave the band long before Paul's announcement. The death of Brian Epstein in 1967 left a power vacuum in the Beatles, despite his not being musical at all he was a good organiser and helped resolve disputes easily. With Epstein's death, ordinarily John Lennon would have filled the role of sort-of-leader that he did before-they-were-famous, but dulled by drugs and slightly depressed, he stayed quiet and McCartney's natural ambition and competitiveness filled the gap instead. Lennon tolerated McCartney without really supporting him, a dynamic which- coupled with the fact that McCartney was well-meaning but slightly overbearing as a leader- would ultimately lead to the breakup of the Beatles. The Beatles over-familiarity with each other did not dull their love of music, but it meant that as they became older and saw women as equals rather than as playthings, both John and later Paul found that making music with their girlfriends came as a healthy respite from their time making music with the Beatles. This was a symptom, rather than a cause, of the fact that the Beatles were in the process of splitting up.John convinced George and Ringo to support making a businessman named Allen Klein a senior executive in their business. Paul wanted his girlfriend' Linda's father John Eastman in the role instead. Paul was convinced that Allen Klein was not trustworthy, and the other Beatles thought that Eastman's link to Paul would cause a conflict of interest. Neither of these assessments were unfair, but rather than find an alternative they argued about these two, never coming to a conclusion that all four Beatles would be happy with. Around this time John announced that he wished to leave soon, but was convinced by the others to keep it quiet for the time being. When Paul found out that John was going to be releasing the Beatles album Let it Be with edits that Paul disagreed with, he made demands that it be put back the way it was intended. When these were disregarded Paul announced the end of the Beatles and the beginning of his solo career.

In the grand scheme of things, nothing is great about Paul McCartney. Sure, he may be the most successful musician of the 20th century, but in no way whatsoever does that mean he's the most talented musician of all time. I mean, he only had half the talent that Mozart and Beethoven did; even Mick Jagger is more talented than Paul McCartney, and Bob Dylan is too, of course. McCartney was only popular because he made pop music; even though he's one of the biggest names in music, that does not mean he's actually talented. It's only an opinion that he's talented, because there are some people who hate his music also. He has his own category in WikiAnswers, and that's pretty cool.
I could find no record of them working together.
