The cheetah didn't necessarily "Survive" the ice age it was actually barely affected by the effects of the Ice age. although its further back cousins acinonyx Pardinensis (Giant cheetah) when extinct due to competition with many predators.
Apparently cheetahs were widespread across the word and then died out except in a tiny part of Africa. A 99% wipe-out is hardly surviving well.

They didn't. There was not a single elephant which was alive when the Ice Age began, and still alive when the Ice Age ended. Elephants live a long time, but nowhere near as long as the Ice Age lasted.
