Crusaders returning from the crusades brought back things from the eastern world. Some of these include architecture, spices, knowledge, etc. You see the average occupant of Europe did not travel more than fifty miles from there home. Because of this there was no change in culture or any desire to learn new ideas. Because of the crusades many knew ideas were brought into Europe which led to the Renaissance.
In general it did not contribute. But if you are referring to how it contributed to cultural diffusion in Europe I can help. Soldiers going to the crusades had a very dim perception of life. You see Europe was a rather stagnant place. Locals did not travel very much, in fact the most that the peasants traveled were fifty miles. Because of this people did not have any exposure to new culture and Ideas. The pope turned to the common man to come and fight the infidels(Arabs) in the Middle East. The crusaders went and fought and when they got back they brought back many things with them. They brought back silk, spices, and most importantly knowledge. As people started to discover all these new ideas they started coming up with ideas of their own. Europe was no longer stagnant and the country flourished in diverse culture and the obtaining of knowledge
The Crusaders brought back many new ideas and inventions and things such as spices, architectural designs and much more including construction skills and ideas from the muslims that were in palestine at the time
They didnt.

Cultural Diffusion increases
Cultural diffusion is the spread of cultural traits, ideas, beliefs, and practices from one culture to another. This can happen through trade, migration, conquest, or technological advancements.
With the many invasions coming towards the Middle East, cultural diffusion would sometimes be stopped by the invaders forcing them to do things in different ways. Therefore, they could not spread their different cultures to others.
