After 116 years of fighting, both nations were pretty much done and wanted peace. Both sides "won" (France was able to make the English leave, and the English raided so much bullion that they were fairly rich afterward), and the population took a major turn for the worse (the Black plague also occurred during this time). Some events during the war led to the English Civil wars, also 'unifying' the nations because they became preoccupied with themselves at the moment.

The war mainly strengthened France because the war, caused by England, made the English lose most of their land in France, making people more influenced by the French king. Then Even more making the power of feudal lords decline.
