Speaking about Native Americans in North America, the Native Tribes lived by hunting and farming. As the USA expanded in the 1800's the Tribes were continuously losing land to the American and earlier to the Mexicans who at the time owned what is now most of the USA's southwest.
Some Tribes migrated with the seasons and some Tribes like the Comanche dominated other Native Tribes in the US Southwest.
