Native Americans learned by observing others and animals. They learned from the teaching of their elders. Also there were normally storytellers charged with telling stories of their creation and histories. They played games which prepared them for life.
Native Americans still exist and their children go to public Schools or Indian Residential Schools. They learn all of the same subjects in school that Non Native children learn, plus some extra Native American History classes that Non Natives don't study unless they take it as an elective.
Early in their histories, American Indian children learned in several ways. They learned in play. Girls would play with their dolls and learned to nurture them. Boys would learn survival skills playing games. They also learned from their elders through stories and observation. Sometimes elder relatives would take responsibility to teach the younger children. Children learned by doing, usually under the watch of the adults. Now, of course, they learn much the same way, only most do attend school also.
