Charles Townshend, the English Parliament by Chancellor of Exchequer introduced the Townshend Act. It imposed duties on tea, paper, paints, lead and glass imported into colonies in 1767.
Charles Townshed was a well known British politician. He is best known for representing the Great Yarmouth in Parliament from 1747 to 1756.
The Townshed Act is the act that put a tax on goods that were shipped to the colonies. It is also sometimes referred to as the Revenue Act of 1767.
