Americans didn't like being drafted into military service; which is why you have an all volunteer army (military) today. The South Vietnamese liked Americans, they thought American GIs were funny and friendly.
The only thing in common is that both were wars that took over ten years. The Vietnam war is a war that occurred in the 1950's until 1971, this war was between the South Vietnam and the Americans who were on the same team, and the Vietcong who was the North Vietnam that teamed up with Communist China. There were no gods making champions fight in Vietnam.
They are two separate continents.
Both fought against communist aggression.
no, african americans and native americans are both different.
No different than people from anywhere else on this planet; they just made a living during wartime. Often ignoring GIs, just living out their lives (foreigners were NOT new to them, they'd seen Chinese, French, Japanese, now Americans...). Life went on!
They both instilled a sense of nationalism or national pride afterwards.
the were skilled hunters
If South Vietnam fell, then it's next door neighbor Cambodia would fall, then Laos, then Thailand, then Burma, Pakistan, India, etc.
The term used by GI's and ARVN's alike was "Crocodile"; Example: GI speaking to an ARVN, "...what happened to him?" "Oh, he got crocodiled."
About as much as the US and Mexico; same continent but different nations.
Effect and affect
They were both captured by Native Americans
