How did the World War I start?

A group of Serbians-called the Black Hand-hated the Austro-Hungarian ruler: Archduke Francis Ferdinand. So they found a perfect opportunity to kill him and they failed; getting one of the group caught in the process.

Gavrilo Princip was a member of this group and after the failure he went to assassinate Ferdinand and killed him. Thus sparking the First World War. Then the Austro-Hungarian Empire gave Serbia an Ultimatum. But Serbia refused, so the Austro Empire declared war. Russia allied with Serbia.

WWI officially started on June 28, 1914.
many say that there were lots of stories on how the first world war started but most people believe that it was because of the assassination of archduke Ferdinand.
