The Allis set up a huge phantom army with its own headquarters and equipment. In radio messages they know the Germans could read, Allied commanders sent orders to this make-believe army to attack the French port Calais...150 mi away... where the English Channel is narrowest. As a result Hitler fell for the "fake army's" threats and ordered generals to keep a large army at Calais. Thus, they were able to through off the Germans and launch a powerful surprise attach.

How did the allies trick Hitler into sending his top tank division to calais prior to d- day?

The Allies tricked Hitler by having a French merchant ship drop a dead body with plans of a fake invasion to take place far west of Normandy and on high tide the body was dropped by the Normandy coast and floated to shore and was found by the Germans and delivered to Hitler and he moved a large group of his men to that point and left the rest at Normandy witch was still a lot of Germans and payed little attention to Normandy. Hitler was taken by surprise and could not move his troops to Normandy and waited still thinking that there was an immanent invasion witch would never come. The Allies lost many men and the number would have been worse if the deception trick did not work. We should always be thankful that there were and still are people like that so willing to fight for what they believe in and to fight for other countries and for the United States of America these men were and will always be Heros.

Why did the axis powers want to defeat the allies during World War 2?

Because the Allies were on the opposing side; the Allies didn't agree with what was happening in Europe. America only joined the Allies after Pearl Harbor, which was caused by Japan. Japan was a member of the Axis, and thus an ally of Germany. The Allies (especially Britain, during the Battle of Britain), proved that they weren't going to let Hitler achieve his plans.

Are there any impacts today caused by the battle of the bulge?

It was the last chance for Germany to turn the tide of war in their favor. If Germany would have been able to push through and succeded in their plans. It would have force the Allies to go to the neogoiating table. But fortunately through the bravery and a lot of luck of the allies, that didn't happen.
