There was every reaction imaginable amongst the population as a whole - from total devotion to Hitler and his ideals to complete and total opposition to much of what he stood for. It is often forgotten what he did for the average German - he gave them pride back after the defeat of WW1 and rebuilt German industry, roads, railways etc etc etc etc . But he also made war.
