It increased the speed of cotton production because African Americans no longer had to pick seeds out of the cotton because the cotton jin did it much faster
The growth of slavery was a negative effect of the cotton gin. Because the gin could remove the seeds from the cotton boll more cotton was grown. Therefore more slaves were needed. As the amount of cotton grew so did the need for slaves.
In the areas where cotton is grown.
Actually the invention of the cotton gin made the growth of more cotton possible which also meant that more slaves were needed to pick, grow, and process the cotton. The statistics show a direct relationship between the amount of cotton grown to the population of slaves.

When the cotton gin was invented it caused the growth in cotton and slaves. Before the gin a slave had to handpick the seeds out of the raw cotton bole. Raw cotton is very dense and the seeds are small so picking them out was labor intensive. The cotton gin allowed the seeds to be removed by a turning of a lever with a brush pulling the cotton apart. More cotton could be grown and processed which meant the need for more slaves to work in the cotton growing, picking, and processing. The amount of bales produced equals the growth of the number of slaves. By 1864 there were 4 million slaves in the southern plantations.
No. It was created to remove cotton seed from the cotton. To remove the seeds without the gin meant hours of work picking them out by hand. With the cotton gin pounds of cotton could be processed and more grown.
