Since this is a statement and not a question I can still provide an answer. The reasons the increase in slaves is the invention of the cotton gin. More cotton was grown and more slaves were needed. By 1860 there were 4 million slaves in the southern states.

The economy of the southern states(not colonies) was dependent on large plantations due to the production of cotton, the souths cash crop during the 1800's.

Cotton.
Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1947! The cotton gin was one of the most important inventions of this time period because it made the Southern slave states more dependant on slavery and cotton to help keep their economy strong. The "peculiar institution" of slavery expanded as Northern and Southern attitudes of contempt and disagreement led them to dispute and eventually the Civil War.
A new approach to the economy was developing in the south.
During the early 1800's the southern states developed primarily an economy based on their farming activities. This was aimed at helping farmer to market their produce.
It made the cotton-farmers rich overnight, and they began to fantasise that they were a proud aristocracy, too good for industrial manufacturing. This meant that they needed a lot of imports, and Congress had levied high tariffs on these, to protect American industry, which was nearly all in the North. So Southern leaders planned to secede from the USA, and the huge cotton wealth seemed to make this feasible.
The Southern states developed an agricultural based economy. This was due to the large amount of farming that was done.
Quite simple, Cotton Production was the main economy at the South (1800 - 1860). The rich white people depended on the cotton to keep their business alive, and depended on the slaves to plant and harvest cotton crops. The increase in cotton production caused slave owners to hire more slaves. Credit of above is to ShiningGravity.
