Would children have been evacuated to Australia during the war.?

No, it was too far away. They would not run the risk of the children being killed on a sunken ship. Some families did move to the US or Ireland or Switzerland. They came back either after the war or after the blitz ended. Most just went to the countryside of the United Kingdom. ___ Yes children were evacuated to Australia, and New Zealand, South Africa and Canada. This was done when the British government became worried about a German invasion.

What is evacuees?

Evacuees are when children from London during World War II were evacuated to the country side. They would be sent away from their families; so that they could work in the war - to the country side where they started a new life with completely different people and things around them, that they haven't seen before. It was unsafe for the children to live in London while their were bombs, as they would die too quickly from a young age.So they were taken away by a train to the country side where they were safe from the bombs, but their families couldn't come with them as they had to work in the war, but they were allowed to send letters and gifts to them whenever they could. Starting a life in the country side was hard for the children as they had to settle in to a new environment and living with people who they didn't even know. Allot of the time, children who were evacuated got bullied by the country children, saying mean things about them; dirty and horrible, which probably made the children even more worse and uncomfortable. When the war was finished the children were allowed to go back home to their families ( that is if they didn't die )But some children decided that they didn't want to go back to the country side for 2 resin's.1: They got used to the country side so much, and they loved it and they didn't care about their families and settled in with their new family well that they didn't want to go back. ( but they would still probably keep in touch - visit )2: They could of been badly abused and didn't want to go back to their parents as they would of been too scared, so they would stay in the country side and live their instead.I hope this has helped!

What gifts are given on a Honduras Christmas?

I read that in many families the parents will buy the children a new pair of clothes and a new pair of shoes. Though some families are so poor they can not afford even that. For the richer families there may be more gifts and may be better in quality.

What reason would a child be placed in a children's home rather than foster care?

If there are no suitable foster families available or when the child is unruly so they wont fit into a family dynamic. You have to remember that foster families are often normal families with or without biological children at home but with foster children and the ones coming new have to fit in somehow so the family works.

Why were children evacuated in world war 2?

Children were evacuated because the government did not want them killed in bombings and other attacks, or left uncared-for if their parents were killed. In Britain, 2600 children were sent overseas to places such as Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. Many more, as many as 800,000 children, were sent to live in the countryside, away from the likely areas of attacks or invasions, for varying periods of time.

no, they just simply had to cope with it. Even though sometimes their foster families were really mean.

How did children feel in World War 2?

All children were evacuated to the countryside where it was considered safer. This did cause the potential children who may die from bombings to reduce massively. However, they had to leave their parents and often they were split from their siblings. Many children were told by their parents that they were going on an adventure so they wouldn't become upset. they were all evacuated on 1st September 1939 however tyhere were no bombings and parents claimed it must have been an exaggeration so they decided to return home. Later though in 1940 the blitz started so they had to be re-evacuated. Sometimes the evacuees would live with very strict guardians and were treated unfairly and sometimes used as a worker;this sometimes meant that boys were more popular. So to conclude putting all these ideas in to mind i have to say that life must have been awful for children.
