The failure of the League did not cause World War II, but it certainly was one of the factors. There were high hopes for the League of Nations, but unfortunately, it proved to be a very weak body, unable to agree on major issues, and bogged down in bickering, as stronger nations like England and France competed for political influence. In the 1930s, when a united stand against the rise of Naziism and Fascism was needed, the League failed miserably.
For example, when Italy (under Mussolini) invaded Abyssinia (today Ethiopia), the Abyssinians begged the League of Nations for help, but the response was half-hearted at best. Sanctions against Italy were agreed upon, but not enforced; in fact, several member countries totally ignored them. The League was not able to get every member nation on the same page, nor was it able to defend a weaker nation against a stronger one. Eventually, Mussolini decided the League would be no threat to his expansionist goals, and he soon cast his lot with another expansionist, Adolph Hitler of Germany.
he started world war 2
The United States did not join the League of Nations after World War I.
The cold war was.
The League of Nations was viewed by the world as "the league of the victors of World War 1" rather than a fair league for all nations. Most nations ignored the League and their goals therefore the League did little to prevent World War 2. The Treaty of Versailles was also connected to the League of Nations and many nations resented that Treaty. This was a major contributing factor of the reasons for World War 2 being started and fought.
World War II was inevitable, due to the failure of the League of Nations in WWI and the collapsing of the Weimar Republic, a makeshift democratic government in Germany formed under the Treaty of Versailles. Once the Republic failed, Hitler rose to power and expressed desire in total control over Europe. The immediate cause of World War II was on September 1, 1939, when Hitler invaded Poland after signing an agreement stating that he would not. I hope this helped! :)
No.
no : The League of Nations was perhaps designed to prevent WW2. It didn't, but it was not formed until after the end of WW1.
no the world war 1 did not cause the gulf war.
The League of Nations was formed after World War 1, as part of the Peace Treaties that ended that war.
I don't really think that democracy caused WWII. There were many other factors which contributed much more (if democracy did indeed cause it!) these were; An aggressive Germany under Hitler appeasement (namely by France and Britain) failure to recognize a true threat bitterness of Germans at their treatment at Versailles failure of the league of nations and so on.... i think to ask how democracy caused WWII is very vague as democracy did not cause WW2 at all!
well you see the world war 1 the cause of that was the Germansand for world war 2 the cause was because they wanted revenge cause they were sick of itwell you see the world war 1 the cause of that was the Germansand for world war 2 the cause was because they wanted revenge cause they were sick of itORtreaty of VersaillesRussian revolution -> establishment of communismformation of league of nationsreparations (treaty kinda)- economic problems in western Europe- development of new military technology( especially aircraft)collapse of 4 empires- (replaced by concept of NSD(national self determination)emergence of pacifismeconfirmation that America was the leading power in the war
To try and prevent future world wars from occurring. WWI was so terrible that people wanted it to be the "war to end all wars". The Great Depression, the rise of fascism, the failure of the League of Nations to respond to Japan's invasion of Manchuria and China all resulted in the League of Nations failing in it's main goal to prevent another world war.
World War 1 World War 1
Several things. The Depression, the decline of Imperialism, the rise of Fascism and Communism, the failure of the Treaty of Versailles, the failure of the League of Nations, the failure of the Weimar Republic in Germany, Isolationist policy of the US, and Appeasement policy of Great Britain and France; all combined to create the environment which led to World War 2.
The US Senate fail to support Wilson after World War 1 by refusing to allow America to enter the League of Nations. The reason cited was Wilson's failure to involve the senators in the planning and negotiations.
