When was Ebenezer Scrooge visited by 4 ghosts?

There were only three ghosts (the ghosts of past, present, and future). And they showed Scrooge how mean he was being and how less fortunate others were than him during the holidays. The ghosts taught Scrooge to be nicer and to care about others more.

Actually there were four ghosts. Most people forget that Marley was a ghost, and he taught Scrooge the same lesson as the other three that was explained wonderfully above. Marley, Scrooges deceased business partner, showed Scrooge his chains, each link representing a cruel deed done while he was alive. This was Scrooge's future, weighed down by chains forever, if he didn't change his ways.

The Ghost of Christmas Past showed him the good time and those that were not good and how these effected his thought process in the future, the Ghost of Christmas Present showed him how life is in the present, what the meaning of Christmas is and that Christmas is not just for one day it lasts for the whole year in one attitude to others and situation. The last ghost shows him how he would be uncared for in his final days that those days were rapidly approaching. He made Scrooge aware that his mean attitude sought only to drive those people away that try to embrace and care for him i.e. Fred and even Bob. He sees that his attitude impacts on Tiny Tim as Bob cannot afford the medical treatment to maintain the child's life.

Marley arrived on Christmas Eve

Then is told to "Expect the first to-morrow, when the bell tolls One." (Christmas Morning)

"Expect the second on the next night at the same hour. (26th December)

The third upon the next night when the last stroke of Twelve has ceased to vibrate. (27th December)

However, when Scrooge awakes in his own bed he has been visited by all three ghost early hours of Chritmas Morning. This is one of the misssed issues in the book. In additon the Ghost of Christmas Present takes Scrooge across the 12 days.

Scrooge acknowledges this when he awakes and shouts to the boy in the street."What's to-day, my fine fellow?" said Scrooge.

"To-day!" replied the boy. "Why, Christmas Day."

"It's Christmas Day!" said Scrooge to himself. "I haven't missed it. The Spirits have done it all in one night. They can do anything they like. Of course they can. Of course they can.
