Scientists suggest Mendeleev left gaps in the periodic table because Mendeleev knew the elements existed; however, was unable to prove it.
When he left gaps because he needed to let some of the air in for he can get all of the piese together.
The gaps in the first periodic elements described those elements which were not discovered at that time. Eg-silicon,germanium etc
he predicted that there were elements not yet discovered so yeah.
He predicted that elements with the predicted properties would be discovered to fill in these gaps.
when Mendeleyev changed the layout, there were gaps.how did the gaps help scientists looking for undiscovered elements
The gaps estimated their chemical properties. The elements when discovered were found to have those properties. They were then placed in these gaps.

I believe the correct answer is he was able to predict the existence of yet undiscovered elements, due to the gaps. For instance, I believe germanium was one of the elements undiscovered in the table, its placeholder was called ekasilicon.
Mendeleev left gaps for undiscovered elements. He predicted their properties which were found to be accurate later.
Because there were gaps in the periodic table, which he invented. Unlike other scientist of the time who tried to make the elements fit theircategorising system, such as Newlands and his law of octaves, Mendeleev came to the conclusion that they had not discovered all the elements as he noticed patterns that allowed you to categorise elements if you left gaps that undiscovered elements could fill.

He arranged elements in order of increasing atomic masses. He left gaps for undiscovered elements. The elements with same properties were grouped together.
He made the first ever periodic table, that was the revolutionary thing Mendeleev made.-----01/6/2012Mendeleev's discovery about elements were so revolutionary because he left gaps for undiscovered elements. He predicted the elements properties to get the empty spaces that would later be proven true (the prediction of the other undiscovered elements) in 1875 by a scientist.
Dmitri was the guy's first name. He was actually Mendeleev. Basically, he noticed that some elements happened to have similar properties to some other elements and that these elements could be arranged in a logical way in a table. OK, so there were gaps, but as time passed these gaps (which really were predictions that there were as-yet undiscovered elements) became filled.
