The geographic features of a specific area create industries. For example, in the west coast of Canada, there are many forests. This allows Canada to have a prospering forestry industry. In fertile places, there are many farms. The Mediterranean climate of California provides a easy place to produce grapes, for the wine industry.

Geographical factors in business include, relative Supply Routes. How easy is it to receive raw materials and goods and how easy is it to ship them or for customers to pick them up? Competition, how many like business will you be sharing the market with in a given location? Demographics, who are the people you will most likely serve? Knowing the neighborhood Demographics will help with understanding their needs, & wants allowing you to serve them better. Locational assets such as visibility for optimum volume for walk-in traffic, and general ease of access, storage space, fleet management, etc. And lastly Governmental Regulations, as each municipality has certain restrictions, incentives, and rules, that may effect the overall cost of doing business relative to compliance to specific laws or civic culture.
