well he never died, But his enemy did because of the might his enemy has acquainted. But the green lantern was Abi sur's enemy he was told to place the ring onto himself. He took revenge of Abi sur's death, The death of Abi sur was formed when he extincted a constituent part of his lungs which incepted the byotremic tube of his heart. That was the cause of his death.

But green lantern suffered a severe injury at the conclusion of the movie.

But hopefully, a new series or part will come emerge next summer.
