The invention of coins didn't really change much. The invention of currency however changed everything. Wars have been fought due to it and it has provided a world wide basis for trade. Before when you traded items for each other it could turn into an arguament how much they were worth. Now an items value can be shown with a figure making trading easier. Currency also almost caused World War 3. during the cold war when the soviets blocked berlin the allies nearly had world war three against the soviets. And the reason why they had blocked berlin was that they allies were trying to introduce their own currency there.
