In December of 1865 13 Confederate veterans met in Tennessee to form the Ku Klux Klan. The group called itself a social club. But the reality of the Klan was to act as a terrorist organization and attack freed Blacks and plot other types of disturbances to encourage Southerners to support laws against freed Blacks.
