In the 1800’s 12 million people came into the United States to Ellis Island. That means that 40% of people today ancestors landed at the center. With them came all the wonderful foods, music, inventions, philosophy, education, and cultures. In the civil war 60% of the men fighting were Irish immigrants and Andrew Jackson’s parents were Irish immigrants and he had lost his father and brother in the revolution. The United States culture is a combination of the immigrants who have come and raised families.

What Effects Asian immigration has had on religion in Latin America?

Asian Immigration has had no real effect on Latin American religion. Japanese immigrants are mostly non-religious as are some Chinese immigrants. The remaining Chinese immigrants practice Chinese Folk religions but do not proseltyize or bother Latin Americans over faith issues. Filipinos are already Catholic, so there is no religious change when they arrive in Latin America (which is predominantly Catholic).
