This depends on which pharaoh we're talking about and what kind of respect. A lot of Pharaohs were looked upon to control everything. In the eyes of commoners, their pharaoh was a god. He controlled the sun and rain and most importantly, when the Nile flooded to leave rich silt for growing crops. Pharaohs were respected for being fair and following the rules of ma'at (a religious law that means showing equality and fairness for all people) but also for their economic achievements eg. war, trading, crops etc. To get full respect of their people, Pharaohs had to show both of these values and have an equal balance of both of them.
