The plague provided a chance for changes in economic status for many people. When large numbers of the population die this means that gaps are left that allows people to take over the vacant jobs, or positions. This meant that more people could change their social status, thus, changing the society in general with new ideas and methods.

It killed 1/3 to 1/4 of their population. It weakend them and killed many serfs. Since the serfs did all of the farming, there was little food so people starved. It lead to the decline.
