They often claimed divine right, asserting their authority was sanctioned by the gods, which helped legitimize their rule. Additionally, they formed alliances with local chieftains and used ritual and religion to strengthen their position within society. Over time, this consolidation of power allowed the Shang dynasty to maintain control over a vast territory and its resources.
Once the Shang where captured by the Zhou the Shangs king killed himself. The Shang joined the rebellion but it collapsed and the Zhou Dynasty stared.
