as i recall, All In The Family ended with Jean Stapleton,s character(Edith Bunker) being killed off by dying of a stroke in her sleep. In the last episode of All In The Family, to feature Jean Stapleton as Edith Bunker, she is told by her doctor that she has phlebitis in her leg & that she must stay off her feet. Even Though she is seemingly aware of how serious her condition can become if she ignores her doctor,s advice, Edith caters a St. Patrick,s Day party for Archie,s bar, despite feeling pain in her leg. Jean Stapleton left All In The Family due to a contract dispute.
That's really because the story just ended. After Mike and Gloris moved to California, they still came back, but as you might know those episodes were not called ''All in the Family'' they were called ''Archie's Place'' even thought there were the same actors, just a new addition Stephanie, but she also appeared at the end of ''All in the Family''. There is maybe another reason, but that's all I can think about for now!
The Brady Bunch ended because the show was never a top rated show. The show was cancelled after five seasons.
