Some were pleased with the killing of the Jews - after all, Hitler had said that they had destroyed Germany's financial infrastructure, and killed Jesus Christ thousands of years earlier. They had to be punished.
But thankfully, there were other soldiers who were mortified by the slaughter. Many of the SS who worked the camps requested a transfer out, as the constant presense of death was taxing on the mind.
