Eli Whitney created the cotton gin in 1794. This allowed cotton to be produced 50 times faster than before. This vast increase in production lead to an increase in the opening of plantations and the cultivation of cotton spread out west also. Many more slaves were imported and even though the slave trade was banned in 1807, the inner slave trade between the states in America still continued.
As far as racial slavery is concerned, some may ask why not the natives or Indians? Some historians believe that there is some reasoning behind picking Africans as slaves. The natives who are familiar with the area, would be able to effectively escape and join a fellow nearby tribe. Africans would be more unfamiliar with the area and would have a tougher time escaping. They were also resistant to certain diseases such as malaria and quite strong compared to the other races. Many of the slaves that were brought over from Africa were prisoners of wars, many resulting from the Kongo civil wars in Africa over time.
The Southern economy soon began to boom with the cotton gin, cotton could be produced a lot faster, and another upcoming industry was the sugar cane business. A lucrative sugar cane business opened up in New Orleans, Louisiana and it soon became the wealthiest city in the U.S. It was also the third largest city at the time.
Slaves faced a much different frontier out west though, compared to when they were back in the east. Out west, their days would be much longer, working from dawn until dusk and usually most of them had to walk all the from the east to the west. Not only were the slaves in no shape to do anywork when they arrived but the change in environmental conditions and disease also threatened the survival of slaves. Remember, that children of female slaves would also be enslaved, regardless if the child resulted from a rape or not.
Slavery had been fully abolished in the Northern states by 1804, but the institution continued in the south and in the years to come, there was a prohibition on supporting abolition on the south, who was heavily reliant on slave labor for production and income.
Well, I hope this answered your question!
The Southern economy changed drastically in the late 1800s, as the South went from a slave-driven economy to an economic system that was not supported by slave labor. This change altered everything about their way of life, and destroyed the plantation system of the old South.
It was the labor pool that produced the cash crops.

The electron was discovered by J.J. Thomson in 1897, when he discovered particles inside the atom that contains a negative electric charge. Since then, scientists have learned much more about electrons, and the way they are imagined has changed as well. Niels Bohr established that there was a structure to the way electrons are laid out within the atom, and this discovery has changed the study of physics.
