It can easily be said that when all the other reasons for the Southern rebellion are cast aside, slavery was a key issue. Or, to put the answer in a different light, if there was no slavery in the US in 1860, there would never have been a civil war.
General Greene
To put it bluntly, if every big business had access to free labor, the economy would be doing good, wouldn't it?
Buying weapons, this put the U.S. into a wartime economy.
The South's economy was ruined. The war had taken place on Southern land, ruining all of the farmland. And since the South had put all of their eggs in the farming basket, they were doomed.

The South's plantation economy put it at a disadvantage because it had to rely on imports for numerous manufactured goods. The North, in contrast, had a thriving manufacturing base.

Their economy was booming with Cotton sales to foreign nations, but the US put a Tariff of Abomination in place which taxed imported goods. People from the south hated this because they feared that the foreign nations would tax their exports, and nobody would buy them.
The economic reason for the civil war was the taxes on imported and exported goods. The tariffs that the national government put on imported and exported goods affected the Southern economy, but benefited the Northern economy. This helped escalate tensions between the Union and the Southern states. The southern economy depended on selling cotton overseas, but the North had become very industrialized, and their profits went down when trading with England and other European countries was so easy, so the U.S. put taxes on Importing and Exporting goods to encourage trade between the sections of the country. Slavery was the obvious social/political reason for the American Civil War. Most people in the North wanted to abolish slavery, while the Southern society and economy held the institution at its center. The debate over whether new states entering the union should be slave or free was a heated one, especially as in the years before the civil war, the number of Senators from slave and free states were equal, and each side wanted to prevent the other from having an advantage.
The disadvantage of the screw is you have to put greater distance.
Yes, mostly cotton plantations. As the planters grew rich in the cotton boom, they began to fantasise that they were feudal aristocrats, and they discouraged their sons from going into industry. So the South had very little industry when the Civil War started, and this put them at a disadvantage.
The Civil War created a stronger and more stable economy in postwar America. There were organizations and programs put in place such as the IRS that helped to balance out the economy. People also gained a better understanding of how to save for the future.
Virtually none, except cotton. The South was a newly-rich cotton empire pretending to be a traditional landowning aristocracy, and putting on a lot of airs, such as discouraging their sons from dirtying their hands in industry or commerce. This put them at a disadvantage in the war, as they had no manufacturing facilities for war supplies. In that situation, they had to improvise, and they made a surprisingly good job of it.
The New Deal put women at a disadvantage in the work place.
well, first off Texas had seceded from the union so it was a confederate state that believed in slaver, therefore when the union won back the confederate states Texas was no longer a slave state because the union had abolished slavery.
