Lynching was a means of instilling fear in a group of people. People that are in fear for their lives to not resist unfair actions.
Laws restricted the franchise and segregation schools were only part of a network of state statutes-jim crow laws- that by the 1st years of the 20th century had institutionalized an elaborate system of segregation reaching into almost every area of southern life. Blacks and whites were very segregated.Lynching is to hang someone for a supposed offence with or without a proper trial.

There have been many controversy's on where the word "lynching" came from. To be quite honest, no one really knows where this word came from. Although there have been rumours that a man name William Lynch had created a speech that he gave to whites over 300 years ago to help the whites "control" their slaves. This speech has been picked apart by historians as they say many words in the document wouldn't have existed or would have been used for another meaning.
Lynching predominately occurred by the whites hanging the blacks. This occurred because the whites had so much anger towards the blacks because the whites were in a financial crisis and they lynched the blacks to relieve their anger.
