The purpose of a pre-lit Christmas tree is to eliminate the hassle of having to untangle strands of holiday lights and having to then wrap them around the tree. The pre-lit Christmas tree already has lights strung on it, and it is easier to put up and take down.
The lights are going to be lit on December 3, 2008 7-9pm. If you are asking when it will be set up I am not sure. I was there for Thanksgiving last year and it was up, but there was scafolding surrounding it until the last day I was there the Saturday before the lighting.
Pre-lit trees already include all the lights strung up on the tree, so people can avoid the muss and fuss involved in attaching them to their holiday tree. Most pre-lit trees are artificial.
