most of the characters names are just made up names by Stephanie Meyer but some of the names in the twilight saga Breaking dawn are some personal names of relatives that are close to her. But the Cullen family their names ( Carlisle, Esme, Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper, Alice) well Stephanie tried to make them a little different from regular names and she tried to make them sound older like more from there times like Carlisle it is a different and older name that they would have used in his time period ( along time ago).
