After the U S dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki the Japanese had no other choice but to surrender. The US totally destroyed all of their resources and killed thousands of innocent people in the process.

They ended the war in 1945 instead of 1946 or 1947 resulting in the saving of the lives of over a million troops on each side. Also they prevented Japan from being divided at the end of the war into a communist North Japan and democratic South Japan.

The atomic bombs dropped in hiroshima and nagasaki forced the japanese to surrender in fear of other bombings. They were a sad necessity during the war because if it hadnt been for the those bombs, the allied invasion of japan, codenamed operation downfall, would have had way more casualties and would have probably been the bloodiest battle in the war, with estimates of over a million casualties on both sides.

The first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima was so destructive, that after a few others being dropped, even theJapaneseEmperor decided to surrender. The Japanese see their emperor as a god, therefore, the war ended with a Japanese surrender.
