After the failed invasion of Russia by the Nazis and the defeat of Mussolini in Italy the tide had turned against Germany. With Germany fighting its' way in retreat from Russia the Allied landing at Normandy France(D-day) created a multi-front dilemma for the Nazis. As Eisenhower and the Allied Forces fought their way through France(the Western Front) Russia was converging on Germany(the Eastern Front). It was only a matter of time,and on May 8, 1945, Victory in Europe was achieved.
