the block once quarried was placed on a sledge by a gang of about 20 naked slaves hauling on ropes made from papyrus reeds. Water or oil was poured under the runner to reduce friction. To get to the working level and eventually to the top they most likely built a ramp. This may have been a single ramp extended as the pyramid grew or one that spiralled around the structure.

The 'capstone' or 'pyramidion'.
suppose you are an ancient Egyptian stone worker. the queen has hired you to make a pyramid. she will give you 140 blocks of stone. the queen shows u a model using 14 blocks. the model is 3 blocks high. facts: the top layer has 1 block, the second layer has 4 blocks and the third layer layer has 9 blocks. you will be able to use all the blocks if you follow the queens model. Look for the pattern. after awhile the pattern becomes clear. 1.how many layers does your finished pyramid have? 2. how many blocks did you use for each layer? 3. describe the pattern 4. could you make another pyramid with 200 blocks following the same pattern?
Capstone or pyramidion
The number of blocks in a pyramid depends on the size and shape of the pyramid. Generally, a pyramid is composed of a base and a certain number of layers stacked on top of each other, with each layer having a decreasing number of blocks. The formula to calculate the total number of blocks in a pyramid is (1/3) x base area x height.
Blocks were most likely transported to the top of pyramids using ramps made of mud, brick, or limestone. Workers would have used sledges and ropes to drag the blocks up these ramps from the quarry to the construction site. It is thought that multiple ramps may have been used to reach higher levels as the pyramid construction progressed.
Casing Blocks were laid on top of the main blocks used to build a pyramid. They were trimmed so the outer surface would be smooth and the same color. They are no longer used today, because pyramids are no longer being built.
What is placed on the top is a peace of stone in the shape of a smaller pyramid with a thin layer of gold on the peace this peace is called the alabaster.

I do not have the ability to display images, but you can easily find pictures or diagrams of how a pyramid is built by doing a quick search online. Pyramids were constructed by stacking huge stone blocks on top of each other, gradually decreasing in size as they reached the top. Workers used ramps to transport the heavy blocks and place them in position, with the final layer typically being covered with smooth limestone casing stones.
