the solution of the jamestown colony is that, some jamestown settlers plant tobacco to save their colony.
things that led to the growth of Jamestown were *tobacco *farming *religious freedom *headright
Some resources that Jamestown had was the (trading with the) Powhatan Native Americans, crops (corn, beans, squash, tobacco), turkey, and supplies England sent.
The two main reasons that Jamestown sprouted was the growth of tobacco and natives. You would think that the crop that 'saved' Jamestown was maybe corn or some type of food, but it isnt. So you may be wondering.. How did tobacco save Jamestown. Well they certainly did not eat it. In England they did not have tobacco so the price of tobacco was very high, so the people that settled in Jamestown grew tobacco everywhere possible, from outside the walls, to their front yards. The british would pay great amounts for the tobacco, allowing Jamestown to buy lots of food and other items need to stay alive from the British. But not even that could keep Jamestown running. When harsh winters came along they would use up all of their food and would starve. That is when they had to turn to the native friendly tribes for help. The Indians would often give them meals, and show them how to conserve their crops so that they had enough for the whole winter. Jamestown finally grew and expanded their walls enough to were they didn't have to depend on the neighboring tribes for help. But as they expanded their walls, they came along other tribes that were not as friendly resulting in wars with them. But that is a whole other topic.
the crops were tobacco wheat corn and timber also some fish
John Rolfe brought some tobacco seeds from the west Indies to Jamestown that's right i' a social studies teacher
First, John Rolfe married the Christianized Pocahontas, fostering better relations with the Native Americans. This helped increase profits for Jamestown in that the residents didn't have to spend time warring with the indians. More importantly, though, he adapted a strain of tobacco to the warm Virginia climate. This newly developed tobacco was spread throughout the colony and the areas around it, and it grew so well that England was quickly able to exploit the crop and make a large profit. For some time, tobacco was such an important commodity that women would come to the colonies as "tobacco brides," women who came to be wives to tobacco farmers not just as a wife, but as free labor.
Tobacco? No. Marijuana is claimed to be helpful for some types of nausea.
