My sister is in year 10 at a private school and she said her school is slowly introducing them so that every grade will have them within 3 years. She also has to pay $450 per year on top of her already ridiculously priced school fees in order to use Kevin Rudd's 'free' laptop. This covers the schools wireless software and laptop. If she chooses to leave at the end of year 10, she still has to fork out money for the laptop (she has to pay about $900 for the laptop alone) plus there's another 3 kids to go through school after her, so my parents will be paying a ridiculous amount cause the school is too good for textbooks. If you ask me, it's absolute bull that this school expects the students and parents to pay so much (and they haven't even got their hands on a laptop yet!) when public schools I know of have received their laptops in November last year and didn't have to pay a cent for. How is this school allowed to do this??
