A base, by definition, is going to add hydroxide ions to the solution, and will necessarily also add some other, positively charged ions to balance the negatively charged hydroxide ions, and all these ions have the capacity to conduct electricity.

Yes, bases conduct electricity because the compound dissociates and you get positive and negative ions, which have a charge, and conduct electricity

Do bases condoct electrecity?

Yes.Acids,bases and metals conduct electricity.

What property is acidity?

Acids can conduct electricity, have a sour taste, and bases will neutralize its properties. Bases can conduct electricity, feel slippery, and acids will neutralize its properties.

Do bases and acids conduct electricity?

Yes, they both have a charge and therefore both can conduct electricity.

All acids and bases contain what that causes them to conduct electricity?

ions

Why do acids and bases conduct electricity in water when pure water does not?

acids, salts, and bases have electrically charged ions in solution. neutral substances don't.

Is there anything acids and bases have in common?

They both have water in common, and both conduct electricity.

What are the basic properties for a base?

-All bases taste bitter. - Bases are substances which will restore the original blue color of litmus after having been reddened by an acid. -Bases neutralize acids. -Bases conduct an electric current. -Bases feel slippery or soapy

What Electrical conductivity in acids and bases?

No. Pure water does not conduct electricity, but when something is put into water and dissociates (breaks apart), then electricity can travel across those ions. But this has nothing to do with pH.

Will acids conduct an electric current?

yes will bases also dont believe me go to ask .com

Why do strong acid and bases conduct electricity better than weak acids and bases?

Strong acids and bases dissociate into their conjuagate forms more readily then weak varients. To conduct electricity they must dissociate into these forms due to the formal charges associated allowing them to conduct electricity HCL -> H+ + CL- CH3COOH -> CH3OO- + H+ Equilibrium constant for the first is a lot higher then the second showing that stronger acids fully dissociate. Hope this helps

Is an acid or base better at conducting an electrical current?

An acid, as bases are less likely to conduct electrical currents

Where does electrictricity come from?

Static electricity comes from electrons moving from one object to another. When you get shocked touching a door knob, the electrons are moving from your hand to the door knob.
