Extra CO2 is not needed ever in a properly set up and well planted tank. The fish should supply ample CO2 and Nitrates through their breathing and excreta etc.

I am most definitely an aquarium supporter. They offer a very calming effect and pure enjoyment for me. But with everything they give comes work, the most important are the water changes that come with keeping an aquarium clean.
