Well, you see, swans have to return to the water on a consistent basis in order to stay hydrated. This is why you rarely see swans flying south in winter, because they simply dive under the ice and create a new nest in the mud. The mud provides insulation for the birds when they burrow into it.
Some geese and swans survive the winter by migrating south. This means that they spend the winter in warmer climates.

Mallards and other ducks (and swans, and geese) migrate yearly. During the winter, they fly south to warmer areas so that they can still live on open water and find food. They fly north again in the springtime.

Yes, many species of ducks and geese will feed in the same areas, such as rice fields or marshes. In domestic areas, they may not spend time together, but I don't think they'll injure each other.
